My story:   I love feeding my backyard birds and enjoy their colors, their
antics, and the special tweets-for-treats I receive when they sing their
special songs. I was getting tired of buying and frequently replacing my
plastic tube feeders as well as my wooden feeders that often broke when
they took an unexpected drop as I was taking them down to refill them.
I wanted something that would be easy to fill but would survive the
elements as well as the rough treatment they would get from larger birds
like Blue Jays. So, I started looking around the house and spotted the
Vermont Maple Syrup Jug that I just emptied.

I love Vermont's Maple Syrup, our liquid gold. I've always been a practical,
common-sense type of person, and I couldn't seem to throw the syrup jugs
in the trash (recycling) in the hope that someday I would figure out some-
thing to do or make with them. Eureka! An idea popped in my head that
made sense as I was starring at the empty syrup jug. A strong jug would
make a great bird feeder and my "Vermont Bird Feeders" became a reality.
My stash of jugs became my new prototypes. Feeders with plastic parts
may break & they were often chewed by squirrels. I knew the syrup jugs
were designed to be extra strong so I wanted my feeder to feature strong
metal ports and clips that matched the jug's strength and quality. My own
backyard birds became my testers as they made their fast-food fly bys.
The squirrels who were often seen sitting on my wood feeder's tray have
not been successful in reaching the seed ports so far. The chipmunks at
my daughter's feeders have been a constant side show as they try to jump
on the top of her Vermont Bird Feeders and then do their flying squirrel
impressions as they slide off unsuccessful in their goal to reach the metal
seed ports.

I often look out my kitchen window and see chick-a-dees, gold finches,
purple finches, & other back yard birds enjoying the seeds from my
"Vermont Bird Feeders." The Blue Jays find the perches a little short but
they still manage to get a beak full.   I've even seen a misplaced woodpecker

or two!

Custom Bird Feeders For Private Label Jugs

I start with a brand new gallon or half gallon maple syrup jug, quality metal feed ports, and strong metal hardware.   I carefully mark, carve, trim & drill each jug for a custom hardware fit then assemble all the parts.

I personally print a product tag that includes my logo, contact information, general care & use instructions and then attach the tags & labels to each jug. The jug is given a once over for quality control prior to shipping.

Maple syrup producers can have their own private label maple syrup jugs transformed into Vermont Bird Feeders.   Quarry Hill Farm, pictured above, was the first to have a custom bird feeder made from their private label maple syrup jugs.  Jugs must be a screen-printed-inked jug.  I can not use jugs with plastic/paper labels glued on them.  Please contact me for  details/wholesale prices using the email form on the contacts header.  I can pick up jugs within 30 miles of my home.  All others will need to be shipped to me at the customers expense.
